Kyla and Richard are some of the sweetest souls I've had the pleasure of meeting and working with. We hiked all around Stone Mountain State Park in North Carolina, and it was COLD. But they were total troopers, hiking in their wedding clothes despite how frigid it was, and I can tell you it was so beyond worth it. They had their first look at a waterfall (yeah, I know, perfect) and exchanged vows privately as the sun set over the mountains, while the light turned from gold to purple to blue. It was one of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen. But as Levar Burton would say on Reading Rainbow, don't take my word for it...

Zach & Amelia | Iceland Elopement : Day One | Iceland Elopement Photographer

A couple weeks ago I was incredibly fortunate enough to travel to Iceland with Amelia and Zach, where they would exchange their vows in the most beautiful place on earth and became husband and wife. Experiencing this landscape with them, and photographing their elopement, was life changing. Iceland has been a dream of mine for a very long time, and to shoot an elopement there? Is this real life? 
For their day-before session, we first headed east to Seljavallalaug, a geothermal pool nestled in a valley below the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano. We hiked beyond the pool and found beautiful moss covered valleys with dozens of waterfalls. We swam in the warm waters of the pool, which will always be the most beautiful and epic pool swim I'll ever experience.
Later we headed west to the Reykjanes Peninsula. It was like another planet. Lava fields covered in beautiful lush moss, the steam of hot springs, and rocky cliffs meeting the cold ocean.
